The ships log, it is where all the events etc are written in. Like in the Titanic film, they hit the berg and murdoch says 'note the time, and enter it in the log'. Everything that happens is writtin in there.

I do believe that the logbook was lost during the sinking as is probably rotten away by the ocean (unless it was placed in some sort of protective leather holder)

That is true. For the dead are no longer there to defend themselves or their actions

I do believe that the Titanic's passengers would have made it had they tried to steam towards the Californian. At least they might have increased the odds of survival.

they did log it. the Californian is also at blame, because if they had been alert then they would hav made it to the Titanic. my book had a really good chapter from the point of the view of the Californian and it makes me so fu**in P.o'd that the captain was so fri**in lazy.AGHHH . think how many lives would have been saved if the Californian were alert.i'll stop before i get out of control, but the captain told the crew not to worry about it, and he didn't even send a telegram if i can recall correctly.

and also there was a pitiful 16 lifeboats or something that were on the ship. The titanic designers should have put more, they should have thought if a disaster did happen

the Brittanic's (i think) accident was the kind of accident that the Titanic was built to prevent.
