I see. Yes, so little is shown that it's hard to tell. It's Smith's uniform that gives it away for me.

i thought he wore a white uniform on the titanic too.

Hi Edward9139,

It just depends on the season. White was the summer uniform, dark blue the winter uniform IIRC.

actually... if antone is to blame for the accident it is J. Bruce Ismay. he is the reason that she couldn't stop because he told Capt. Smith to light all the boilers. making her go faster and also making it harder to stop

That is how the film portraid it, I think it was Smith's Idea to go faster, Ismay really could not tell Smith what to do, afterall it was Smith's last voyage so what they going to do, fire him?

thats why he probably got the job to captain the titanic because they wanted to give him a proper send off by letting him captain the titanic on his last journey.

yeah it wasn't as if that man could have told smith to go full-steam ahead after all he was down in the boiler room an could have not got up to smith in time
