agreed. it was in fact on the ship, and did go down with it somehow. most people do think its in the pursers office on C deck. that would also make the most sense since that's where most people were trying to get their valuables out before the sinking, and plenty of things went down with the ship in that area. i don't think it should be brought up. the titanic site is no different then a grave site. and while it is absolutley fasicinating to study its artifacts, it should be left alone. however, if they're going to bring anything up they might want to get started on working on that soon... since it's rusting away...

Have any of the salvors surveyed the purser's office on C-Deck? Logically it seems as though the salvor's would have had a peek into the purser's office by now don't you think? Would they go public with what they found there or just sell the valuables?

i'm going back to the thought of the book...i don't really think that there is much sense grave-digging somethin like the book, since it would not be legible anyway. the jewels wouldn't be a bad thing to honestly bring up though, if someone like Ballard could bring them up then they could save them from the greedy salvors who would sell them

So does everyone thinks that bringing up any jewels would be justified?

In my personal oppinion I think no one should have the right to remove anything from the Titanic unless it is going to help with reaserch & even then I think it would be nice if things could be returned. I mean I was horrified when they brought up the big peice but in fairness they found out so much from it that I guess I would justify that. When I went to the titanic expedition the first thing I saw was the bell sitting their in front of my & I said to Steve that I didn't agree with it it made me feel uncomfortable & it shoutd never of been removed. I only really got anything from re-created room sets or reaserched information & pics etc the "artifacts" done nothing but upsett me, & make me feel bad for seeing them.
