A near-priceless book that was onboard the Titanic when it sank in 1912. It was a copy of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam which had a leather-bound cover which had an image of a peacock on the front made out of rubies and emeralds. The book must still be down there...or at least the rubies and emeralds.

I highly doubt the salvors would put the book on display. The prospect of selling it and making money from it would be a more appealing deal to them. And selling it in the quiet sounds like something Titanic Inc. would do. It is clear to all that the company has some money problems. Selling the book and other hi-valued artifacts to a rich private collector is something highly probable in my opinion. Many valuable paintings have been stolen in the past just because collectors want to add it to their collections. Did anyone see Entrapment for example? Hey it could happen in real life too ya know...

To give an idea how beautiful their paintings were see this:
I think it is worthwhile to speculate if it every surfaced or that teams that commenced unauthorized dives took the painting never to be heard of again. Attached file: musicianth.jpg (4.07 KB) |
