Hello,

I think it was just a phrase, not to be taken literally.

Best wishes,

Mark.

Hello,

*The inquiry says a mine*

Strictly speaking, it said that the 'probability seems to be a mine' IIRC. So it does not simply say it was a mine. Naturally, it was only a short investigation.

Best wishes,

Mark.

The inquiry says a mine, but a torpedo may have been if not the main factor, then one of them.

Charles Bartlett was her skipper. AKA "Iceberg Charlie", so nicknamed because they said he could "smell the icebergs".
