He did't shoot anyone, the film tried to convey a sense of panic, but on the night, although people where terrified they acted more conservativly than you may think, james cameron got in a lot of trouble because he made it seem that murdoch shot someone, but remember it is a movie.

A CLASSIC FILM

The film is a Hollywood retelling of the tragic sinking of the "unsinkable" British luxury liner H.M.S. "Titanic," which struck an iceberg April 15, 1912, and sank on its maiden voyage, killing over 1500 people. Only 712 of the passengers, using 19 lifeboats, survived. There were a number of famous people traveling on the ship who died, among them, John Jacob Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim. Taking a personal approach, the film focuses on the Sturges, a family traveling on the luxury liner. Julia Sturges had booked passage on the ship with her two children after leaving her husband, Richard. He, however, discovered her plans, and followed her on board. Once they set sail, Richard never allowed Julia out of his sight, and unsuccessfully begged for a reconciliation. But then the Titanic hit that deadly iceberg, and the Sturges had to set their differences aside... for the sake of themselves and their children.

Hey Edward is this enough "Oh Margret" for you my friend!

There's not a helluva lot "Oh Margaret" in the romantic sense 'bout Titanic '53. The central characters were feudin'. Really, the fictional story in Titanic '53 has much more substance than Titanic '97. After all, the '53 Titanic won an Oscar for Original Screenplay; one of the few things for which the '97 movie wasn't even nominated.

There's no good reason to be biased against a movie simply for bein' old.

I haven't seen it but I do have this;

One of the less successful attempts to flim the Titanic story was Raise The TItanic.The movie costed many millions to produce and made so little that the flim's presenter,Lord Lew Grade,remarked "It would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic."
