But don't you agree that Titanic was a love story? Because this isn't an opinion this what the movie WAS about!

No, if it were made to be a love story, he would have started with just 2 people......
He started with the Titanic as a base for the movie, he's even said in interviews that he needed a fictional love story to draw the public's interest.
The movie is about the Titanic... the love story in it, which DOES appear to overshadow the real story, is just a doorway for Cameron to show what the story is actually about. Afterall, how boring would a movie be if it were ONLY about the ship. Even Titanic documentaries have people and characters in it. I've never seen a single movie about the Titanic where it was ONLY showig scenes from the ship, with no human conversation what so ever.

He didn't make countless dives and spend 2 years prior to the start of filming to extend his knowledge of love. He spend that time researching the Titanic... if the sole reason for the movie was love, he wasted alot of time and money making that point.

Yes, there is a love story in it, whether it was true love or not doesn't matter. But the sole purpose of that film wasn't to convey a love between 2 people, it was to shed light into the actual historic event.

Are you saying that I think it was just a love story? Because I don't! James Cameron did spend many years diving and researching the Titanic, I'm not saying that he didn't. But he did say that this was a love story and a historical event. The two mixed together. This movie showed that true love can survive the most horrible of events.

I think TITANIC was a love story even though at the bigging it was just TITANIC and not the bigging of the love story.

I agree with you. At the beginning it wasn't a love story it was introducing us to the two characters and introducing people to the Titanic.

No it didn't, it's hollywood, by which means not true, the ship yes true, jack and rose fiction. It showed hollywood can make an expensive movie, and make several times that money back. I m,ean you hear on this site, yes I would give up my place in a lifeboat. I wonder how many people upon that situation knowing there going to freeze to death would be fighting for a place on a boat.

The film was fantasitic there is no doubt, but its hollywood, what where the chances really of such a love story?

So I would not take what happened in a movie, by which someone has sat down and thought it all up, can mean yes in REAL LIFE, that would happen to.

Good night all

There really can be such a love story in real life. Just because maybe you haven't experienced it doesn't mean it isn't real! I still firmly beleive that this was a love story and that true love like that does exist.

Yes am fully aware of how love works and it doesnt work out like it does in hollywood all the time. There isnt always a happy ending, besides if a third class pasenger repeatadly tried to get into 1st class he would be put into the master of arms jail.

So there!

jack's a nice guy. if you think about it, he would probably help anyone who would be in rose's position. but the car scene and a few others prove he does love her.

LoL, so every guy that has sex with a girl in the back of a car loves them right? LoL.
