Yeah! Power steering and a few air bags would have been nice too.

I keep reading this on life boats; "Add more life boats!". They couldn't even launch the ones they had in time, so what makes you think that if they'd had more that more lives would have been saved?

of course they could have launched more lifeboats if there were on titanic..

look, if u see.. when titanic struck with the iceberg.. the captain n' the officers didn't do anythin' at that time..

they launched the first boat in the 40 minutes later (aproximetely)

so they could have launched more lifeboats in case they'd have..

i'm not sayin' they could have launched all the lifeboats..
but still, a few more would have been of very use..

more people would have lived..

so cyaaaa

I don't even think they needed to formally launch them for them to have made a difference. At least just cut the ropes from the davits or make them free, so they could at least float off the deck and people could climb in it.

If I saw an ice warning, I would make sure to it that we take a detour around the icebergs to avoid the whole thing!

Hindsight is certainly a wonderful thing, eh?

As an aside, I do think there's always a little too much emphasis on the issue of the binoculars -- mentioned earlier in this thread. After all, they're better at identifying objects that have already been sighted as opposed to scanning the horizon -- where they limit the field of vision.

I won't get into the extensive debate as to any course change. Some have argued that Smith did alter course to the south, but just not enough; there's a mass of navigational data that makes for an intesting analysis.

Best wishes,

Mark.
