Yes, there was a Joseph Dawson. However, he wasn't the "real" Jack Dawson. There is no "real" Jack Dawson other than the one we all watched on the movie screen.
You are, however, correct that there was a TLC program that explored this issue. That is something I wasn't aware of when I replied and I do apologize for that. I came upon your thread after I had been reading here for a bit and honestly, reading how so many of the posters here seem to think that Jack and Rose were actual, "real" people was rather frightening. |

I know Jack on the movie Titanic was a fictionalized character. But on the real Titanic there was a person named Joseph Dawson

i didn't know they showed a show on the titanic on tlc but on natrual geo they showed the titanic

Did anyone see the program on I believe TLC one time about the identity of the real Jack Dawson? They found his real birth name and her to find out his name is actually Joseph Dawson.
