Well, considering how bad the Titanic is decomposed due to those rusticles and other bacteria, I'd say those hollow smokestackes are long gone. But, I'm not 100% sure, that's just my best guess.

Well i start by saying that the Titanic was made of iron while the smokestacks of steel which means they were composed of a flimseier material than the ship itself. So to answer ur questions i will also add that the britannics funnels or smokestacks were found on the ocean floor so the titanics must have fallen its a 99% chance cause the ships whistles were located so it means the funnels sank with the SUCTION of the ship. But the cause of the britannic still having its funnels on the sea floor and not the titanic because the Titanic lies at a much greater depth than the britannic so the funnels must have been compressed and decayed in the water and this happened before the ship decayed because as i mentioned they were much flimseier than the ship itself.

I suspect that the funnels sank after breaking loose, but being of lighter, flimsier material than the ship herself, they would have landed a fair ways away from the main wreck site...they may even be out there somewhere and not been found...but I rather think that since they were of thin metal compared to the hull plating, time has seen to their decomposition.

[quote:bcc10604ca="JackBauer"]What do you guys think happened to the Titanic smokestacks? :? :?:
Since the smokestacks are hallow isn't it possible they floated away?[/quote:bcc10604ca] I think they were made from a lighter material and when the ship started to go down lower, they started to break away and go into many pieces. I would think that those pieces would have been one of the first thing to vanish. |
