It was Lord Pierre....I think that's how you spell it. Some may have been passed over to Ismay as well. The two had the final say in what was constructed to this ship. A job well done I think too!

That sound right, but wasn't William Pierre in bad health near the end part of Titanic's construction? I seem to remember hearing about him going back to London for a while because he had cancer or something. Maybe Andrews was really in charge for a while at the end? Possibly giving the ok to enclose the A deck promenade half way? Hmmmm...

Hmm I never heard about that. I know in 1907 Ismay and Pierre got together and brought up the idea of the White Star having 3 new vessels. In this question & answers book I have of the Titanic, it says that he had the last say. But perhaps you could be right, Ismay or Andrews could have taken over. Where did you see/read that?

If I remember correctly, off the top of my head, this information came from the "Titanic: Birth of a Legend". Which now that I think about it, might not be the best source.

But, Pierrie did die not long after the disaster, and, as I understand it, Andrews was being trained to eventually take over management of the yard someday.

Wow. Yeah that would make sense for him to take over a management spot. Seeing as they had him construct one of their finest ships.

Good try, but incorrect.

The correct answer is: ........linoleum!!!!!

I kid you not!! Aparently, linoleum was new and state of the art back then, and everyone was excited over it.

I find it so funny, because my fiance and I are looking for a house at the moment, and she cringes every time she sees linoleum in a kitchen or something. So I tell her, "it was good enough for the greatest ship ever built, why not us?"
