no , i was just asking why did they name her brittanic, which sounded patriotic, when they didnt know that she was going to be a hospital ship.

yes it will, but why would they make her a museum when nothing special has happened to her? i mean, if she hadnt sunk, then she wouldnt be that big of a deal.

I have to say that i agree with you little bud it would have just been another old ship nothing really different from any of the others. It was due to the sinking thats made her famous.

I don't kno. There might be. just not in the U.S. They might've left it bcuz it would cost less money to leave it at a museum than tearing it apart. Plus don't u think it would be quite interesting to walk aboard it? Also, the government would probably realize it might've been best to leave it if it attracted a lot of people. If it were to get left at a museum, the government would be making a lot of money off of leaving it there.

Hi! That seems to make the assumption that patriotism is only a consideration in war time. It isn't. If the White Star Line wanted to sound patriotic in 1912, then they could. However, considering the success of the earlier Britannic, that was another key factor. Best regards, Mark. |

[quote:74d8bffe2b="I'maTitanicluvr"]Titanic would probably be at a museum like the USS Wisconsin is at Nauticus and not scrapped. People could walk on it and maybe go inside it. Now that would be cool.[/quote:74d8bffe2b]
Hi! It certainly would be. I'm not sure I'd agree with 'probably' though. Olympic may have become a floating hotel after her 1935 retirement, or even a floating casino according to one rumour, but those plans fell through for one reason or another. The same might well have happened to Titanic had she not sank -- retirement, then scrapping. Best regards, Mark. |
