[quote:b3ba086e40="Betty"]IMO, I do not think titanic would be scraped today. I think she would be a museum. Titanic was a beautiful ship during her time but because of all the money spent on ships today and all the luxuries put on them, titanic would fall short. But, scraped I do not believe that would happen because she was the first of her kind[/quote:b3ba086e40]

What do you mean the first of her kind?

And why no scrap Titanic. They scrapped Olympic, Mauretania, Aquitania and countless others which were just as good as Titanic. If Titanic hadnt sunk she probobly would have been scrapped before WW2 started. Or shortly after the war ended. Titanic was designed to remain operational for about 26 years give or take. After that it would be too expensive to maintain.

I agree broadly with the timeline. However, IMHO the issue would not be maintainence, but the need to attract enough passengers.

Best wishes,

Mark.

Not at all. Britannic was the same length as her sisters according to Harland & Wolff: 882 feet 9 inches overall. The builder's plans show the same number of frames, same spacing; same length. Her length is the same according to the British registry. She was only wider. The figure '903 feet' does appear in some books, but reading a book isn't, strictly speaking, research.

Best wishes,

Mark.

Well Britannic is largely intact. It shouldnt be too hard to find out which figure out which number is the correct one, if any.

The britanic was bigger and as or more luxurious than titanic, but why wasn't it mentioned so often now adays?? i think its because 1. not many people died in the sinking? 2. No popular people onboard 3. It was converted, in other words depilated from its original origin.

I don't know about bigger, but it was supposed to be more luxurious than the Titanic, but neve got a chance because of WW1, they started fitting her and had to stop because it was called in to service as a hospital ship. I have also read that she is the largest wreck on the ocean floor right now.
