Hi Bell!

I agree, it is a complex situation and you could argue it either way. I do think clarification is needed, since not many people seem to be aware of Smith's words.

Thanks for your kind words, it's a lack of time that keeps me offline -- alas.

Best wishes,

Mark.

No, Britannic sunk as a medical ship. Olympic did't sink she lasted until 1935 and she was then scraped. If you want a can send yo a pic of Olympic tied up waiting to be scrapped. Olympic was a troop ship and she managed to sink a German U boat.

It was smith that said and I quote

"I can not see an event that could sink a modern ship such as Olympic, ship building has gone beyond that"

This maybe not completely what he said but someone may have changed it in the last 94-95 years.

Issmay said all 3 where practically unsinkable but the wording was changed. White star nor harland and wolf never denied it though. It was the view of Smith and issmay not the company.

A mean where do u think the nickname ' old reliable' came from.

Hope this was of use to you

good day

No they could't. Think about it who wants to go ona 24 year pld ship, and in those days it was the same. Olympic was no longer atracting pasengers as she once did, even after Titanic, she was seen as they way to travel. She was scrapped because she could no longer make money, that was her purpose and she no longer could do that. But ure right it is sad
