IMO means in my opinion...and in my opinion...I'd really like to believe that she wouldn't have been scrapped, but I'd have to say in all actuality, she probably would have by now. :(

okay, i have to disagree. i dont think she would be a museum. she is famous because of what happened to her. otherwise, she wouldve been just another ship. i mean, olympic and britanic were her sisters so they did have a lot of commons.
P.S. what does IMO mean? |

It was the France that made her maiden voyage in April 1912. The Ile de France came on the scene in 1927. She had great success with her first class passenger lists. That said, Olympic's passenger carryings per crossing showed a continuing increase in the 1926-29 period. Best, Mark. |

I agree with those who say it would've been scrapped. If it had survived, it would have been nothing special within a few months. A much more luxurious ship, the Ile de France, was set to sail within a few more weeks, and a much larger ship, the Imperator, was set for launch a month later. The Titanic would have faided into oblivion and probably be another forgotten White Star ship.
Also, aside from the issue of patriotism, it would have been just a wise decision to not show such blatant egotism with a name like Gigantic... it would have been "tempting fate." |
