Im not sure i thought that it was thirty feet but you may be correct . I read that the silt on the ocean floor is like stomach acid and eats away all human remains is this true?

Betty, At one time they thought that the ship and bodys would be fully preseved because it was that far down and they didnt think any forms of live would survived at those depts but they were wrong so i wonder if what you heard or saw was before they had the information thats now available.

It's very cold in there. That'd be a great preservation method. Also, not many ocean creatures would like to be in that cold of an atmosphere. Although, you do run the chance of getting some unheard of creatures in there too. I think in normal circumstances, it would have preserved just fine, but it having been almost 100 years, I don't think much WOULD be left to run DNA testing on if anything.

Collie, Now I do remember either reading somewhere or seeing a documentary on Titanic. I do not have the facts or book in front of me, but I believe it was Ballard, but not positive. Anyway someone said the part of the ship that is buried deep in the ocean floor could possibly preserved not only things but some bodies. The reason being that it is cold? I will look though my books and some of my articles and see if I can find it.
