Medic:
The White Star Lines Jubilee class ship Medic was built by Harland and Wolff and launched 106 years ago today!!!!!!!!!! (on the 15th December 1898). She started her maiden voyage from Liverpool - Sydney on 3rd August 1899. In June of 1928 the Medic was sold, renamed Hektoria and converted into a whale factory, she even had a ramp put on her stern so that they could get the whales aboard her. While she was serving as a British Ministry of war transport oil tanker, in September 1942, she was hit by a torpedo from U 608 and sunk. Hi, Dominican12,
Over the next two weeks I am going to post a history of all the White Star Line Ships. In this topic I have already posted a history of Adriatic (2), Britannic (3), Baltic (2), Vedic and Medic. Tom |

Hi!
Very good and informative profiles indeed! Well done. I'm not sure if I misunderstood you, Dominican12, so my apologies if I did. The Britannic III is the 1929 vessel; Britannic II was the 1914 liner; while Britannic I came in 1874. Best wishes, Mark. |
