Hello Titanic fans,
I live 15 miles from the birthplace of Titanic. Sadly most of the shipyard where she was built is gradually disappearing. One of the few remaining places is the dry dock and pumping station which was specially built for her and her sisters. What I would like is for everyone to click the link below and sign the petition to try and save this part of Titanic's history Many thanks strider_uk http://www.laganlegacy.com/ThompsonDockpumphousepreservationcampaign.htm P.S. Nomadic (Titanic's tender) is up for auction tomorrow, Mon 22 Nov 2004. It is hoped that she can be saved, returned to Belfast and restored. It seems unlikely, but I will post any news I hear |

Is it the Titanic quarter that is making way to destroy the said objects?. My question is how long will they stay afoot and the exact location (street)
Thanks |

Titanic Quarter is the company re-developing the whole area, but they refuse to state what they are going to do with the pumphouse, other than "the bigger picture". The pumphouse is one of the few remaining buildings on Queen's Island (Harland & Wolff's site), that are closely linked to Titanic.
Nomadic's auction was postponed. No reason known, or date for new auction. Check out the following link; http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/northern_ireland/4031849.stm strider_uk |

Hello Strider UK,
I just read the news and this is not so good for the belfast city council. I saw that they have some budget for buying the ship, but making the amount public is not smart either because they will auction it up to the amount.. I am quite confident that maybe belfast wants to buy it outright without auction and that they are negotiating. these people from Titanic Quarter wouldn't do something greedte, because if they do, they will loose alot of support from the community from every continent, i can imagine already. But by leaving the state of the building this bad, can mean that they have no real interest in keeping it. So they'll need to do more than just keeping quite. |
