I just saw the 3-D movie. after watching bill paxtons concern about safty and oxygen so deep...I got to thinking what happen to the bodies of those people who say were traped in the 3rd and 4th decks that couldn't escape? Medically speaking what happen to them from the plunge into such extreme pressures? anybody want to comment who has a medical background?

Wouldn't these people's heads exploded due to this great amount of pressure. On the official Titanic website it stated the weight per squared metre at the bottom of the North Atlantic (roughly 12, 600 foot down).

I'm pretty sure that their heads would have exploded!

Most people died of the cold water. But the water compressions is like great. each meter of water is like the whole atmosphere on somebody in the water. So down there, only the toughest robots and subs can access the titanic. Even then its a live dangerous job to go down there.

Well I think that with the oxygen left in the 3rd and 4th decks (if there was any) they would have either frozen to death or they would have suffocated from the great pressure!
