Olympic, Titanic and Britannic where registered as British liners. Ofcource Britannic would have been an RMS liner to but WW1 intervened but she was still a British ship.
The thing is after Titanic sank the lifeboats where taken to New York and instead of Rms the read 'SS Titanic'. A just wanted to know why. I also have a picture of an Olympic propeller blade replaced in the 20s and on the bottom of it 'SS Olympic' is engraved. Again I just wanted to know why. Good day, bell |

I can see why people think it was a USA company to, I mean many British car companies such as Aston Martin, Jaguar etc are owned but the US giant ford. However because the cars are built here they are still classed as British. Same goes for ships
But they trio where registered as British ships, they where called on for British Military service (the remaining 2 that is). The wreck of Britannic is in Greece and is protected by the Greeks and the British, not the Americans. |

Harland and wolf where arguably the biggest ship builders of that era. They dwarfed any american yards. Infact the British ships where always the biggest, much bigger than there rivals.

Yes but they said SS even from Britain so why was that. Should't they be american property, but still read, RMS Titanic. Or did the US gov change it for some reason.
