Yes that is true, even in the titanic films there is little to no mention of it. The olympic class liners 2nd class was actually more luxurios than other liners first class

Nope its true, Titanics older sister olympic was said by the press to me more lavish in second class than other liners first. It's not all that surprising though, look at other ships of the day. Titanics closest competator was over 150feet smaller in length, its first class was better than titanics second, but only that ship could say that, and that ships sister.

If you look at ships in 1912, there is basically 4 that you could say are to in anyway close to what you have today. Every other ship before this date apart from these 4, where DRAMATICALLY smaller. In all senses of the word. Titanis 2nd class would beat all they ships, only the lusitania and mauretania could chalenge Titanic and Olympic in luxury, titanic and olympic beat them in that department, but the lusitania and mauretania, where the faster ships.
