I don't personally relate to her character much...but after reading the screenplay, I understand more about how she felt about her surroundings and her life. It's obvious she felt trapped by her mother forcing her marry Cal, but she also felt trapped in the first class- you can see it on her face when she is having tea with her mother, and sees the mother teaching her young daughter how to place her napkin in her lap, etc. Even her corset was trapping her...I think with Jack she could really express her feelings and thoughts and know he would not just pat her on the head and laugh. Instead he actually listened to her, something her mother and Cal only pretended to do.

BTW don't forget the bundles of money that Cal placed in that coat pocket that Rose was wearing when she was rescued! More property that was not her property to keep. Never returned or Rose Dewitt Butaker would have never been concerned lost.

... I don't think she stole the necklace.. she noticed it when she put her hand on the coat.. besides.. she didn't sell it cuz the money remind to her ''CALL''
She hated that man.. And, she couldn't have talked with Cal and say.. Hey cal.. I wanna break up with you! Hell no!!! remember that in that time woman didn't have any word.. Besides Cal would have kill her or something :p Just watch the movie and you'll see what I mean ;) |

That is true what TitanicSoul said. I watched the movie and the deleted scences. LoveJoy goes after him when Cal tells him he put the heart of the ocean in the jacket and he gave it to Rose.LoveJoy goes after them. They were hiding in the dining room area. When he found Rose he pointed the gun at her head, but then Jack saves the day once more. If you want to see this deleted scene then get the special collectors edition. Cal wanted Rose dead. TitanicSoul was correct.

Yes.. I mean, Cal got crazy when he found out that Rose was in love with Jack.. How can she possibly talk with him?
He was a really JEALOUS guy.. In first place Rose didn't wanna stay with Cal, Remember her mother wanted that Rose studied a carrer so she could get a rich guy and married him.. She was doing that by force not for her will.. Remember why she was trying to commite suicide on the ship?? Well.. that's all for now.. |

I personally feel that Rose was a nasty girl who cared little for others in her class, but i can also see the point that women in the 1900's did not have a say about anything, they were little more than property, even young son's were treat better than them, it is historical fact that many women who spoke up agianst their man were raped or even murdered, so in this case i feel that rose knew that Cal would get extremely annoyed with her, seeing that he slapped her when he saw her holding hands with jack, and therefore went behind his back to get a life away from him. She could'nt go up to him and hand his necklace back as he tried to get her killed once so if he knew she was alive he would probably try it agin, the only way she could get peace was to go and get a new life.
