the only thing you can really buy is coal...in the us, it is illegal to buy and sell titanic artifacts(doesn't stop some people), so it is next to impossible to buy an artifact. The best thing to get her is maybe a good book or a painting of titanic. But i don't think you can legally buy an artifact, and if you did and it was discovered it would have to be returned. you can get great titanic gifts at www.titanic1.org

At Titanic1.org (Titanic Historical Society), I think they sell actual pieces of carpet from the dining room on Titanic. If I remeber it was like 900 dollars.
The story goes that one of the stewards took some left over carpet from the ship when the ship was being fitted out. The carpet was put into a chair seat for stuffing, then retrieved years later or something like that. here is the link: http://secured.titanichistoricalsociety.org/shop/tek9.asp?pg=products&specific=jolprnd If you want something from the ship that survived that actual voyage, be prepared to fork over the bucks! I think a first class dinning menu from the night she sank sold for something like 100,000 dollars or more. |

While not from Titanic, these fittings and pieces come from her twin, Olympic. Go to http://www.luxurylinerrow.com/Olympic%20fittings.html
But I tell you now, they'll cost you big $$$! I browsed abit (had to stop cause my wallet was screaming for mercy! ), and these pieces can go between $300 and up into the thousands! Their inventory changes often so you may want to bookmark the page. Hope this helps you out. |
