For us Titanic lovers, I think they should make a movie based on the actual hard facts we now know today. With non-fictional characters and events. That would be awesome, but I doubt it would happen.
1 rule though, they have to mention the Californian's involvement.

The Cameron movie is the best we are going to get other than ANTR.

Really, today every film director has to cater to every demographic of society, that they have to put in a buch of trash and fiction to sell anything.

I was so pumped to see Pearl Harbor when it came out. Good grief! Could they have fouled up that movie more?

About the only really good historical movie I have seen in a while that did not seem to sell out is "Gods and Generals"

Titanic 1997 is at least bearable, but I focus on enjoying the movie sets and special effects, rather than Kate and Leo.

For the real story, I'll pick up a book or watch "A Night To Remember". There is something very powerful for a movie like that in even though its black and white and has poor (by todays standards) special effects. Especially the iceberg scene. No dramatic music or anthing. Just the sounds of the ship going through the water, the engines, alarm bell, and the sound of the wind whistling around the crows nest. Powerful scene!
