Hey Molly, great to see you here!
If your coal and certificate are like what you see here http://www.facemakersincorporated.com/coal.html is is indeed authentic coal that RMS Titanic, Inc. sold in 1998 to finance their salvage operations. It's worth about $15.00 now, but hold onto it, as the years go by more and more will disappear from the firmament. |

Thanks a lot for your reply. My setup is exactly as it was shown on that site. It was given to me by a family friend when he found out how fascinated by it I was. He was into it as well, so he so many things associated with the Titanic. It's nice to know that I actually have something from the Titanic. It is not just a fascination of mine. It is my life. I want to become a Titanic Historian one day. I want to, one day before it is gone, to actually go down an visit the site. I already know so much about it, but that isn't enough for me. Thanks again!

Teamtuna,
i also have a piece of the coal, but it is not in a plastic cube, it is in a small black box, with Titanic on the cover and a COA which says it is from the 1994 expedition. It is also in the small plastic baggie. |

Yes, that's the stuff RMS Titanic sold in conjunction with the Titanic Historical Society and the British Titanic Society in 2000. Since then the contract for resale went to Scientific Mall USA and can be found here http://www.sciencemall-usa.com/titantearchain.html . It was made of scraps of the 1998 coal.

I would actually suggest eBay, as you can get it for less there. Or do the ol' Titanic Historical Society a favor and get it there.

Nutty, Were you satisfied with the piece of coal and did you get it on Ebay? Isn't it nice to have something that actually was on the Titanic, no matter how small. I love it !!!!
