I think that the broken-off end of the bow contributed to the decent angle due to the bent plating, which would cause hydrodynamic changes to the hull like flaps do to aircraft.

However I think that would make it rather impossible to predict the exact decent scenario. I aggree with CaptainJack on the estimated speed at which the bow hit the bottom.

Is it safe to say that the bow (below the mudline) would be crumpled up due to the density of the mud and the impact?

That was a bow first (head on) decent where it continued in a non stop forward motion with a pitch either to starboard or port causing a higher rate of decent speed in a slight spiral decent

If the bow is dug-into the mud up to the port anchor, then how fast did the Titanic hit the bottom?

Studies project the speed anywhere 20-30 knots. The range is due to the decent path it took can not be 100% established. Some experts projected a leave fluttering pattern of decent others the spiral bow forward pattern. Each results in a different speed.

the bow was also full of water when it started sinking, unlike the stern which was still releasing air as it went under

The bow, it went under first, and also the fact it was heavier so there would of been extra momentum, so it fell faster, then as water preesure increaded it slowed a bit. Basically if it was a race, bow had a head start, and was faster, so i think the bow hit first.

very interesting, and water is denser than air so the speed would have been decreased wouldn't it
