Yeah, I was down in FL for the week bouncing between Daytona and Orlando. Orlando has a permanant Titanic museum with a bunch of artifacts from the Olympic and some recreated rooms from Titanic. Here's the link for those interested: http://www.titanictheexperience.com/

I noticed your picture title has Daytona 500 on it. Did you go to the race this year and see a Titanic exhibit? If so, that's pretty cool! Titanic and Nascar!

Here's the 5 boilers that can still be seen in the wreck. And from the diagrams I've looked at, there were 5 more in the next compartment aft.

As far as I know there are 4 boilers, from the missing section of the ship, that are found in the debris field. If I am not mistaken there are 5 visible on the bow section. as for the other boilers if they broke from their positions they are still in the ship, but personely I believe that they are still in their orignal positions.

It seems like your count is pretty acurate, although I do not know the exact number they have found.
I think you are right in saying that the boilers are still in place in the bow section. I never could understand where people got the idea that Titanic "barfed out her boilers" when she was on end, as they were pretty fastend in there with the uptakes and everything attached to them, plus the bulkheads. I guess the only ones we see outside of the wreck have spilled out from the breaking point. There is none in the stern as its section starts at the reciprocating engine room. |

Does anyone know how many boilers are strewn around the Titanic wreck? According to wreck footage and models I've seen, 5 can still be seen in place where the bow separated. A bit of a far cry from all the stories about "boilers smashing through the bulkheads" that we've always heard. Perhaps the others are still in place? (with, of course, the exception of the 5 from the "missing" area of Titanics hull)
