All I know is that the hydraulic launch triggers are placed under the bows. I've not been able to figure out how exactly they work though. A good place for some pictures is at

Does anyone know about the hydraulic launch triggers?
I know that they are released when all the timbers and such are removed from under the hull, and the slipway is greased up. But, where are they and how do they work? I think they are under the bow (as some photos show) but all I see is tubing and pipes. Are the triggers connected to claps that hold the ship, and when released the clamps let go the ship? Or are the triggers for a device that give the ship a push to start her sliding backward? |
