The ashes of 92 year old Ellen Walker believed to have been conceived on board Titanic were scattered off Cataclew Point, Cornwall over Hallowe'en weekend.
Ellen's mother, Kate Phillips, a 19 year old shop assistant from Worcester, England and her father, Henry Morley, the shopkeeper, eloped on board Titanic. They travelled under the assumed name of Mr & Mrs Marshall. Their story is thought to have inspired the "Jack & Rose" characters from the film.
Kate survived by finding a place in the last lifeboat, and gave birth to Ellen 9 months later. Henry died in the disaster.
She was a lifelong supporter of the RNLI because of her rescue from Titanic by lifeboat.
May she rest in peace.
