This is a very good question and is one that several scientists are working on. Titanic - Part VI Recent Photometric Analysis of the Shipwreck Obviously some of these points still need to be proven via experimentation. Many of the visits to Titanic are not just for visiting the ship. Titanic gives scientists that opportunity to observe a deep water ecosystem in a controlled-environment. Obviously, care is given to preserving the wreck site and at NO time are any items retrieved. All these scientists have a deep reverence for the gravesite and do not touch the wreck or the debris field. Filming is critical for observing changes in Titanic and a photometric analysis of the video/film footage is key to seeing, firsthand, what the decay rate is on this great ship. |
