No. Boilers were way back from the bow of the ship (under the smoke stacks). But the first were exposed when she was ripped along her side. As the bow sank lower and the water rose more boilers were exposed.
Head-on fewer people would have died but there would have been fatalities. Check out the pics of my brothers Titanic model (under construction) to your right!!! More at http://titanic.tilbrook.name/ |
