The truth is the Captain is walys to blame when something goes wrong..and it is easy for us to look at the sinking and blame him. The fact is he did what he thought best at the time...he had officers below him, and he thought it ok to leave the bridge to them that night. Lightoller at the inquiry that the simple act of not delievering the last ice message doomed titanic. The captain is given seamen to work with him since he can;t be on the bridge 24 hours a day. He did nothing different than any other captain would have done in his possition. Yes he holds some blame for the sinking. All I am saying is that alot went wrong that night, and I think to just blame the captain isn't fair..he had so mush to live for I don't think he would do anything if he thought it would endanger lives. Yes he had some ice warnings...and those who were on the bridge were well aware that they had to look out for bergs, it was a series of mistakes and many people messed up that night. I think it is wrong for us to sit here and point fingers at one person..we were not there and what would we have done in their shoes? I pray that we never have to make decisions like that...
