She was a hospital ship in WW1 in 1916. Britannic departed England on her 6th voyage, heading into the war zone to pick up more sick and wounded soldiers. She only made it to the island of Kea, when she was rocked by an explosion. Captain Bartlett immediately turned Britannic towards Kea, trying to beach the ship. Unfortunatly, at that same time, lifeboats were being lowered into the water. At least 2 boats were drawn into the still turning propellers, resulting in 30 people being lost. Britannic lies in about 400 ft of water. |
