Cameron stated that when he re-constructed the Titanic set and sank it for the movie, the cables got in the way of the collapsable boats and the davits. Therefore, he speculated that it was possible that the cables were removed, in order to give the boats better access to the davits (that is, if they actually had time to fix them to the davits) |
