Rose's mother. Rose was being made to pay for mistakes she had not made and all that mom could think about was keeping their things from being sold at auction. She had no understanding of her daughter at all and did nothing to try and help her into the marriage; she simply pushed her.

I really couldn't hate Cal. He was what he was which, unfortunately, wasn't the best thing for Rose in terms of personality. His character was simply unable to look beyond his own perspective, but at times, it seemed that he tried. He just couldn't succeed. I do think that he truly had Rose's best interests at heart, but simply was the wrong personality for her.
