I certainly appreciate all of those opinions here regarding this subject.
I agree as well that there is only ONE Titanic, and my belief is that nothing, not even a newbuild, will ever replace Titanic, or her legacy. My name is Joseph Ricker, and my non-profit corporation, the SS Titan Foundation, is currently working on plans to build the world's largest liner, Titan, as a vessel to honor and carry on the memory of Titanic for future generations in living detail. All "profits" from the operations of Titan will be funneled into our charitable trust, which will oversee the distribution of these funds to other non-profits and research organizations whose goals are the eradication of deadly childhood diseases such as cancer, HIV-AIDS, and many others, in addition to assisting global organizations working towards helping those less fortunate children who are suffering from famine, abuse, illiteracy, and homelessness. By doing this, it can be an effective and lasting legacy, a positive if you will, to come from such tragedy so many years ago. Our website has a homepage up at www.sstitan.org, and is under construction, with a planned Fall 2005 launch. I would like to direct any specific questions to posts I made on these forums to the "New" Titanic section, these may answer some questions but I am also available here. Thank you! Joseph Ricker |
