The trouble with a "Titanic bow" (aka 'knife edged' bow) is it creates drag as the ship moves through the water. The newer bulbous bow design helps to eliminate the drag. Thus, the ship can go faster and not burn up as much fuel.

Yeah, but there going for a contemporarly look with over tones to the past. The qm2, and the victoria use a desing with a bow bulge, I think this is for stability, or allowing it to go through water easier (perhaps both, certainly has a purpose) Titanic's hull was very old fashioned, could trace it's routes back to the old sailing ship days lol. The desing allows for more efficient use, ergo, cheaper to run really, there would be no need for a lot of funnels either. To tell the truth, they would only really do that, if they ever had an incilantion to build and old classic ocean liner. Qv is the closest to that atm.

By the way, here's what that ship would've looked like as QV. I think Cunard missed out with this ship! I just forgot to post this pic. with my original comment! oops!

I found out what happened to that ship. It was originally suppost to be a Carnival Cruise Line ship, but was bought by Cunard while it was being built. They named her Queen Victoria. Then, P and O line bought the QV from Cunard, while it was at the ship builders. It was renamed Arcadia! This poor ship got sold twice before she even got wet!

Thankfully, Iv seen digitally rendered photos of it and they have 'classed' it up a bit from that photo rip1912 posted. Looks more like a baby Queen Mary 2 tbh.

Thanks or the photos Robert. I still wish they would go a little more classy on these new liners.. try a look of more "back in the day" I guess. Maybe someday a ship will have that appearence.

Cool, Eh? I've (kinda) been following QV story since 2003. I just wasn't sure if they were true. Here's a cool little pic of QV. I can't remember where they came from, but I've had these since June 2003. Enjoy!

Queen Victoria will be her name. Will not be as large as the QM2 though. Here's a link with details and a few photos. She'll enter service December 11th 2007. http://www.cunard.com/AboutCunard/NewsReleases.asp?Cat=&View=ViewArticle&Mode=News&ContentID=5706&Active=News
