SEOUL, Oct 18 (AFP) - South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine
Engineering said Monday it has secured fresh orders worth 1.2 billion dollars
to build 10 vessels for foreign companies.
The deals include the building of four container ships for Denmark's AP
Moller, three car carriers for Sweden's Wallenius and three liquefied natural
gas (LNG) carriers -- one each for Norway's Bergesen, Russia's Sovcomflot and
Britain's Golar, Daewoo Shipbuilding said.
The ships will be delivered by August 2008, it said.
The South Korean shipbuilder said the latest deals brought its total orders
so far this year to 59 ships worth 5.6 billion dollars, surpassing its
original 2004 target of 4.38 billion dollars.
The company has since raised the target to 7.0 billion dollars.
